Job Description

The Agriculture and Natural Recourses Instructor will deliver competency-based instruction designed to offer high school students the opportunity to develop entry-level skills required for employment in the agriculture industry. Instructor develops and/or utilizes a variety of instructional strategies, techniques and delivery methods designed to meet the individual learning styles of students. Instructor will foster a safe and civil learning environment and inform students about course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance policies and will monitor, evaluate, and document student attendance, progress and competency attainment. 

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Maintain computer based attendance, grades, and schedules
  • Provide group and individualized instruction according to state-approved course outlines that are aligned with career technical education and academic content standards 
  • Collaborate with peers to plan and develop lessons for the pathway courses 
  • Develop and implement appropriate safety procedures for the classroom and facility 
  • Promote and market the CTEC pathway programs within the community and at community events
  • Knowledge of current market trends and industry development/practices/standards
  • Provide effective teaching and classroom management strategies, while maintaining a safe classroom environment 
  • Recruit, interview, motivate and retains students 
  • Work closely with community partners and educational institutions
  • Assist with program development, direction and evaluation
  • Participate in department , general and advisory meetings
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Physical Requirements of Job 

  • Must be able to type and use various computer software applications
  • Must be able to communicate in person and over the telephone
  • Ability to walk and be on feet for several hours a day and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs
  • Must be able to work flexible hours
  • Must be available to work some weekends and/or evening
  • Must have reliable transportation 

 

Required Skills
  • Must hold or be eligible for a Designated Subject Career and Technical education teaching Credential with authorization in the Agriculture Industry Sector.
  • Three-five years work experience in a related art field with current knowledge of industry standards.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess strong organizational skills
